Building Applications

The use of LGS load-bearing studs and components are now becoming more and more common in low (single story) to medium rise building (four to eight storey), particularly in residential homes, apartments and condominiums. Light Gauge Steel Construction system is a pre-engineered & pre-fabricated quick build dry construction system. The key advantages are consistency in quality & controlled project implementation timing.

Generally, LGS construction system can be classified under two board categories:

Modular Construction: Modular consists of actually pre-fabricating the walls and floor components into sections, usually in the factory under controlled conditions. The modules are built in sections with doors and windows openings already built into the wall panels. The finished modules are than put on to a trailer and transported to site. The major benefit of this method is the speed of erection as the modules are simply 'craned' into place on site as the wall panels is already pre-assembled.

On Site Construction: There are several innovative systems available today, which consist of ready-made panels, or pre-cut and pre-drilled framing members, which only require easy assembly at site. This system has been used particularly for Industrial and Commercial buildings where large spans and standard building sizes are the norm.

It is a well-accepted fact that steel is a superior construction material with the highest 'strength-to-weight ratio' of any building materials. Steel building components are stronger and lighter which results in a 'safer structure' (in a seismic situation) with less maintenance and a slower aging process.

LGS Systems are proving to be cost effective due to the major reduction in construction time and being lightweight, translate to savings in the foundations too.

A few specific advantages of LGS Systems are as follows:

LGS has a high 'strength-to-weight ratio' (Individual members are lighter per unit length than traditional wood, steel or concrete framing members). It is 100% recyclable and can be recycled again and again without losing its physical properties. It is inorganic so will Not rot, warp, split or crack.Steel is inert and does not emit fumes, gases, vapour or support the growth of moulds & fungi (which can potentially caused some health problems). It is dimensionally stable - it does not expand or contract with moisture content.Because it is produced in strict accordance with national standards, there is no variation in quality from region to region throughout India.Steel is a non-combustible material and does not contribute fuel to a fire, or be susceptible to fire.LGS buildings using latest Technology' are engineered structures that can be designed to meet any degree of loading such as high seismic or high wind loads.

LGS Systems are beneficial to the Project Owner:

LGS construction is lightweight, which makes construction easier and the use of heavy equipment is minimized. It allows for better quality of construction, with straight walls and square corners, which minimize defects and callbacks. The consistent quality of LGS Components reduces job site wastage and scrap.LGS components can be supplied to exact lengths and sizes, thus eliminating jobsite cutting and trimming thus minimize wastage and scrap.Quality control of LGS building is much easier as it is a 'dry' construction process. The buildings are resistant to termites or any type of organisms thus provide a healthier environment. The lightweight of the structures reduces the cost of foundation.Due to its 'strength-to-weight ratio' (overall building is lighter), the building has high resistance to seismic forces.LGS Systems offer a strong, safe structure with low maintenance and a slow aging process.LGS Systems buildings are more energy efficient and have much better thermal resistance properties than buildings built with conventional materials.
